Most of us have heard of the term RAT RACE being used in various occasions. However, many have never really got to understand how the rat race actually relates with their lives.
It’s interesting to get to know how we spend most of our years working not to be financially free, but to enslave ourselves even more financially. Unfortunately, the slavery we create is passed on to our children and it continues on forever from one generation to the other indefinitely.

The whole problem starts with our parents who advice us to go to school, get good grades, get good jobs and live a happy life. Indeed that sounds like a very bright idea, but in our 21st generation, that might be the worst advice to give to your child or friend.
The world around us has changed and we`ve got to change along with it if we are to survive in it. We continue to struggle financially because; we go to school to learn skills which will never show us how money is made or how money works. We therefore spend most our years in school preparing ourselves to work for money instead of letting money work for us.

Here is the puzzle unraveled:
One goes to school, gets good grades, gets a good job with a good salary and they are happy.
Their lifestyle changes to suit their salary and they spend a lot on luxurious things.
Soon, they get married with a need for a home, a family car and other household equipment to cater for the large family in the making.
Their needs are increasing but their salary has not yet increased; this prompts the need for another job or working overtime in order to: pay their mortgage, car loan and cater for other high standard life bills they accumulate daily.

The pressure becomes too much and life becomes unbearable.
Soon the young family starts saving for their children’s school fees and that adds more burden to their limited finances.
The only option available to the young family now is to get loans to keep them going and settle some of their accumulated bills. This seems like a good option but unfortunately, they end up paying so much money to the banks in terms of interests and other amounts to the government in terms of taxes.
The young couple has now turned into slaves of their employers; whom they work for tirelessly for a higher pay, the banks through the interests they pay and the government through the taxes they pay. Life becomes a surviving game of “from hand to mouth”, without the freedom to buy anything at any time without feeling the pain or adding to your financial burdens.

After the children have grown up and they are ready for school, the parents repeat the same ill advice they were given by their parents to their children:
"Go to school, get good grades, get a good job with a good salary and live a happy life."
The children being obedient as they are taught in church, they follow the same trend their parents trod on and they end up disappointed just like their parents.

Well, that is the rat race in brief. It seems so simple, but getting out of it might be complicated as long as one does not acquire the necessary financial skills to know how to get out of it.
It is high time our young generation sought for options to the old formula of good life in order to avoid its disappointments.
It is time to get real ways of living a happy life with money working for you and not you working for money. But how can money work for you?......................................THINK, THINK, THINK AND THINK!!!
